Getting yourself a web hosting and a personal domain name for your site.

The very first step in our lesson is to learn how to get yourself a hosting plan and your very own domain name for your new website.

In this lesson we will be taking things easy and just set the basics first. What is the important thing here is that we have a good understanding of what is a web hosting plan and a domain name. Let me explain:

What exactly is a domain name?

The domain name is the unique name or address that is used for referring you to a particular website or a web page. It is also known as URL (or the Universal Resource Locator what it stands for) this it the text you type in in your browser’s the address bar.

One of the most famous domain would probably be or Everybody has heard of those two right?

In order for anybody to have their own domain they first need to register it and buy it. A domain name is bought for a certain period of time which usually is 1 year. The price of the domain varies depending on the period of time and the domain extension as some tend to be cheaper then others but less preferred as well.

If you don’t renew your domain name registration at the end of the said 1 year it will expire and you will lose any powers and claims on it. This is something that needs to be kept in mind as losing a domain could be a really bad thing.

One of the toughest parts (at least for me that is) is choosing a good domain name that I can be satisfied with. It is not just personal preference though as a good domain is essential and a key component in your status and for your readers as well.

The are certain options to change or swap a domain name later on but starting out with a good domain name that you are perfectly satisfied with is crucial. If you are interested to find out more about how to choose a domain you can find more in my other post on how to choose the perfect domain name for your starter website.

What is Web Hosting and what does it do

The web hosting is a service provided by a separate company that specialists in that field. They provide you with a storage space where you can upload your website and thus make it available to everybody 24/7 on the internet through your domain name or URL.

The most common type is the shared web hosting where you are sharing the resources of the company’s servers of the company with other members that have their own web pages.

The web hosting company has incredibly powerful computers that are always switched on and have incredibly powerful resources and fast connection to the internet. The most important features to consider when choosing your hosting company is the security, the uptime and the customer service. Those three factors are of the upmost importance to me when choosing the right company.

  • Security – Knowing your website and files are safe is essential. The need to be offering a regular backups in order for you to be able to get back your files in case if something unexpected happens. Thus saving you a lot of stress and worry. As always better be safe than sorry.
  • Up Time – The up-time is not to be taken lightly. If you are visiting a website that is unreachable for some reason through out most of the day is not going to carve any special place into your heart. If I ask you whether you’re likely to visit it again the answer would probably be – I guess not. Making sure your site is constantly running and available to everybody 24/7 is one of the best things you can do for your investment.
  • Customer Service – Often Customer Service is neglected when people are recommending a web hosting company. Here’s the thing though the knowledge and the overall level of the CS agents will be a life savior. They can make all the difference and that is why they are here to help us in need. A good and on point Customer Service that is delivered fast and frustration free is as valuable as anything else.

It is not a coincidence I’m making this guide. I myself went through the trouble of researching what would be the best web hosting company for my website. To be honest, I found it difficult to find a definitive answer. So after a couple of wrong decisions and headbanging I finally found what I was looking for.

This is why I’m recommending as a best choice for a web hosting company for 2018 they provide fast and reliable service (99.996% yearly up-time) without unnecessary complicated things on a great prices as well.

I’d advice you not to go for the low quality hosting companies as they could prove to be a big pain. Knowing that your website is in safe hands and all your work is secured is priceless. If you have any questions you can always contact me so that we can sort it all out together.

There is a reason I recommend and the reason is that I found them to be the best company though my experience. Over the years I’ve changed and migrated to a couple of different hosting companies always to have something that bothered me or that proved to be a big let down.

One of the most common issues that I had was having my websites load to slowly which is not a good thing and is bringing a negative effect on the user experience and the poor Customer Service. Maybe that is the reason I value the CS so much nowadays – having a problem you are not sure about and receiving little to none help from the CS agents while in the same time waiting for 30 minutes for an answer on your every sentence is a bummer.

That is why I recommend:
